Director: Curtis Hanson.

PG-rated drama, 124mins.

Stars: Eric Bana, Drew Barrymore, Robert Duvall, Debra Messing and Robert Downey Jnr. When it comes to his job, Huck Cheever (Bana) is stuck in a rut.

Sadly, the same can also be said about his personal life – a string of failed relationships and an even more strained relationship with his father, legendary poker player LC Cheever (Duvall).

But things are about to change in all those aspects for Huck, who has followed in his father’s footsteps on the world poker tour but struggles to emerge from his enormous shadow.

Then, by chance, he meets Billie Offer (Barrymore) a young wannabe singer from a small town called Bakersfield. As their friendship grows, so does Huck’s fortunes both on the table and with his father.

A creditable, if not surprising role for Bana in a low-key release.

Director: David S. Goyer.
