Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2008
(Dram Good Books, $29.95)
THERE are hundreds of books about wine, but only a handful on whisky – and Murray has attempted to cram as much information as possible into 360 pages. He has written tasting notes on more than 3750 of the world’s leading, and lesser- known, whiskys and whiskeys, from Scotch single malts to bourbons and ryes. If you are a whisky fan it’s an invaluable resource. Incidentally, Murray named the Ardbeg Ten Years Old, a single-malt Scotch, as his whisky of the year. Ardbeg’s limited edition 4.5-litre Mor Ardbeg has just been released in Australia at $700 a bottle. The book is considerably cheaper.
