Australian likely to face Bulgarian murder charge

CANBERRA – An Australian man is expected to be charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Bulgaria.

The 21-year-old from NSW was arrested on Friday after an incident in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, about 1.30am local time. It is alleged that the Australian stabbed Andrei Christov Manov, 20, the son of prominent Bulgarian psychotherapist Cristo Manov.

Mr Manov died on the way to hospital, reportedly from a stab wound that pierced his heart.

Compatriot Christian Dimov, 19, was also hurt in the incident and is recovering from his injuries.
