Composite team takes out Cressy title Organisers of the competition, sponsored by James Boag and Son, said the day ran smoothly and finished up just before 5pm, with a composite team consisting of Wayne Hadley (Deloraine), Ellis Shaw (Westbury) and George Shaw (Longford) being announced as the overall winners. There were 22 teams entered in the competition representing clubs including Longford, Westbury, Launceston, North Launceston and West Launceston. The Longford Bowls Club team with member Dennis Murfet, John Parkinson and Ken Bacon finished in second place. Cressy Bowls Club president Terry Badcock said the greens ran well with the warm weather proving favourable for the bowlers. “It was a good competition and we had some very good games,” he said. “Cressy had five teams entered and they all won two games out of the three they played which is a great effort.”
